Harvest is upon us. On a daily basis we are bringing in hundreds if not thousands of pounds of produce. This is a special time when everything is ripe and we dance around the first frost of fall.
To celebrate this special moment of the season we will be hosting Chilefest, our annual chile roasting festival, on Friday September 20th from 4-7pm. A festival it is setting up to be! We will have on display, and for sale, well over 20 kinds of peppers we grew this past season ranging from sweet to serious heat.
Chilefest shines with a special light this year as last season we didn’t harvest a single pepper from our field after being mauled by a late season hailstorm. Harvesting a crop is no small miracle, especially when it needs all season to mature. We are truly grateful for pepper abundance this season!
We are pumped to have the chiles represented in our friend’s Rodrgio’s cooking. Santa Elena is putting together an amazing meal to accompany the flames and peppers. It is going to be a lovely evening celebrating the harvest and the shifting seasons.
On another note starting Wednesday September 25th our Farm Stand will be self-service rather than staffed. Bear with us as we make the transition and iron out any kinks. Hours will remain the same through October 27th, then shift as we head into winter.
Hope to see you this week!
